DESCRIPTION:The Mill Creek Chamber of Commerce Is Proud To Support Scholastic Achievement In Our Community!\nCommittee Members: \n\nLindsay Rucker-Robinson (Committee Chair)\, Greet Mill Creek\nGreg Elwin\, Greg Elwin\, Real Estate Agent\nKevin Giboney\, AllState – Family First Insurance\n\n\n\nScholarship Program\nSince its very beginnings\, the Chamber has been committed to encouraging and assisting local high school students in their pursuit of higher learning in Business or a field in which they would like to pursue a career in business. The Chamber is offering four scholarships of $2000 each to graduating seniors. All are open to students who are goal-oriented toward business\, regardless of their actual majors. \nInformation Sheet: (Printable Scholarship-Application) \nQuestions? Contact: Lindsay Rucker-Robinson at scholarships@MillCreekChamber.com \n \n\n\n\nApplication Criteria \nApplications are open for the current school year and are due no later than Wednesday May 31st\, 2023.  \nApplicants must: \n\nlive in Mill Creek and/or attend school at either Cascade High School\, Jackson High School\, Cedar Park Christian School\, or Archbishop Murphy\, and be a senior in good standing at the time of application.\nbe accepted to attend a full-time accredited College\, University or Fine Arts School.\nbe planning an academic course of study in the field of their choice\, but plan to pursue a career in business.\nsubmit ALL of the following materials under “How To Apply” together to the Scholarship Committee by May 31st (DEADLINE):\n\n\n\n\nHow to apply \n\n\n\n\nTyped application form (Printable Scholarship-Application)\nTwo letters of reference and recommendation from teachers\, advisors\, and/or local business people (cannot be a relative).\nCopy of the letter of acceptance from the institution they plan to attend.\nTyped Essay (less than 200 words about their academic and career plans).\n\nQuestions? DESCRIPTION:When: Tuesday\, May 16th\, 2023\nWhere: 2nd Floor\, Mill Creek City Hall North \n11:30am – Open Networking\n11:50am – Food Ready\n12pm – Meeting Starts\n1:15pm – Meeting Ends\n1:20pm – Committee Meetings Start for those who are meeting \nPrepay options:  \n  \n50/50 raffle: 1 ticket/$5 or 5 tickets/$20!  \n  \nSpeaker: Chief Thad Hovis\, South County Fire\nTopic: Fire Inspections and Workplace Safety Training \nThad Hovis was named Fire Chief of South County Fire in 2020.\nRaised in Edmonds\, Chief Hovis has spent his entire fire service\ncareer serving the people of south Snohomish County.\nHe started as a volunteer with the Edmonds Fire Department in\n1995 and was hired by the Mountlake Terrace Fire Department in\n1996. \nChief Hovis moved up through the ranks over the next two\ndecades as five local fire agencies combined to become South\nCounty Fire. He has a bachelor’s degree in emergency readiness\nand response management and an associate degree in fire\nscience. \nAlong with fulfilling his duties as Fire Chief\, he also serves as the\nPresident of the Snohomish County Fire Chiefs Association. He is a\nmember of the Snohomish County Fire Training Consortium\nAdministrative Board and the Sno911 Governing Board. Chief\nHovis’s strong interest in educating and encouraging future\nfirefighters has led him to become a member of the North Seattle\nCollege Fire Science Program Advisory Board\, as well.
